Harper’s Heart Can’t Wait, She Needs You Now!

This sweet 5-year-old Chihuahua was privately surrendered to Helen Woodward Animal Center last month. During her medical evaluation, our veterinarians discovered she has Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA), a congenital heart defect that has gone untreated since birth. Without surgery, Harper’s heart will continue to struggle, putting her at risk for heart failure.

The good news? PDA is treatable with a complex surgery that requires a specialist, and once repaired, Harper is expected to live a long, happy, and healthy life. But she needs your help to get there.
