Your Gift Saves Pets Like Galileo

Helen Woodward Animal Center has plenty of experience treating orphan pets with health issues.

Earlier this year, a one-year-old orange tabby named Galileo came through our halls. When he first arrived, he looked to be in good health. He had a great personality and a striking cream-colored coat. Surely, he would find his permanent people without a problem.
But then, Galileo’s health failed him overnight. One weekend morning, he shocked the Center’s medical staff with bloody nasal discharge. He stopped eating.

Whenever our staff tried to feed him, he’d throw it up almost immediately. They had to insert a feeding tube into Galileo’s neck so he wouldn’t die of malnutrition.

Our team worked night and day to figure out what was wrong with the cream-colored tabby. Within days, we had a diagnosis and a treatment plan. Within a week, you could hardly tell he had a health issue.
Galileo’s recovery was only possible because of your donations.
Will you give today to help Galileo and other pets facing critical medical care?

Cindy Was Found in a Meth Lab.

Cindy, a Labrador Retriever blend, arrived at Helen Woodward Animal Center in mid-Spring at 7 months old. One of our rescue partners in Oklahoma reported the tiny pup and her three siblings had been rescued from a meth lab in the countryside, and little Cindy was suffering from visible burns.

They had done what they could to stabilize the frail litter of puppies before sending them over 1000 miles away in the hopes that Helen Woodward Animal Center could fully rehabilitate them and give them a chance for a better life. They knew that – thanks to donors like you – the Center is equipped with a a state-of-the-art medical facility on site to treat orphan pets like Cindy.

Upon arrival, the Center veterinary team assessed that Cindy had been suffering from violent seizures – no doubt caused by the noxious fumes she inhaled during her formative years living in the meth lab. Our medical team treated her immediate symptoms before scheduling an appointment for her to meet a canine neurologist. The neurologist ran a variety of tests on sweet Cindy before diagnosing her with epilepsy, a condition she will live with her entire life. He prescribed a specialized treatment plan that her future family can use to treat her ailment going forward.

Helen Woodward Animal Center is able to get pets like Cindy the help they need, only thanks to the kindness of people like you. Every day, our team treats medical cases like Cindy’s to ensure that every animal has a chance at a long, fulfilling life.
